| Cincinnati Reds Animations
This was a fairly large project, consisting of 21 5-10 second animations, nine five-second player intro animations, and a few longer logo animations. All done, start to finish, in about two months or so. The bulk of the work was the 21 situational animations, designed to highlight (generally in a comical fashion) game events, such as a walk, pitcher change, error, etc. The stadium model was given to us by the architecture firm that designed it, and was somewhat textured and mapped, although I spent a while getting rid of duplicate faces as Brazil is a little less tolerant of them then the max scanline is. I also spent a bit of time filling the stadium with 40000 or so cards with people mapped on them, all with a bit of noise-motion applied to their vertices, so that the crowd would move and seem alive.
This project was also a big exercise for me in character rigging and animation, and i've learned quite a bit about how to rig (and even more about how NOT to rig ;) for animation. That said, the main baseball player character is on a rig i built myself while the baseball-headed mascot (Mr Red) is on a character studio rig (he was only supposed to be in one animation where he had to move, but since his first animation proved popular, i left on the rig i used to pose him and did a few other animations with that). The following stills are just a small slice of what was done for the project.
