Ruby Tuesday: The Great Race

This was a regional Super Bowl spot that ran in the Washington DC area and, I believe, in the Memphis, TN area. The idea behind the spot is that the cars are racing down the bar top, in an attempt to reach the plate of mini burgers, which are being prepared simultaneously. This spot was directed by Stu Maschwitz, who also acted as the VFX Supervisor.
I acted as both CG Supervisor and as a TD on this project. I modelled the Mini from scratch, rather than reusing my old Mini model, which I was not happy with the quality of. Nathan Reidt did the texturing and shader work on the car and bar surface. I also did a great deal of the car animation. I was on set for the shooting of the live-action elements of the spot and took that opportunity to record alot of HDR information, both in the form of light probes and still images, as well as some of the snapshots below.
Also of note on this spot, is that all the 3d was rendered with Brazil 2.
