The Host (Gwoemul)

I worked on this project in two parts. During the first part, I acted as a development TD, developing the water surface methodology seen in the center clip below. I also did some of the early testing and development on the smoke and fire effects seen in the film (mostly testing and comparing Maya fluids, and the Aura and Fume plugins for 3dsMax). I also acted as a Lead TD once the show got rolling and we starting running shots.

Then, in the middle of the show, I was pulled off to be the CG Supe on the Ruby Tuesday commercial. Two months later, once the commercial was done, I came back onto The Host, this time as a sequence supervisor. So, for the second part of the project, I set up a generic lighting and reflection environment for my sequence and then supervised a number of TDs in the lighting and effects for the sequence. The effects included things like dirt and rocks scraping off walls, water and drool dripping off of the creature and splashes in water. I also found myself running a few cleanup shots as the show drew to a close.
